If you return to work after the treatment of industrial injury, you will be given KRW 800,000 every month!

Starting this year, when workers return to work, the 「Return to Work Grants」, which are provided to employers, will increase to a maximum of KRW 800,000 per month.
As a result, disabled workers with disability grade 1-3 can receive KRW 800,000, KRW 600,000 for those with 4-9, and KRW 450,000 for those with 10-12 for up to a year.

The 「Return to Work Grants」 is a system that provides wages to employers who have taken disabled workers with disability grade 1~12 and retained the employment for more than six months.

Along with the grants, the Ministry of Employment & Labor and the Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service organize and operate the 「Industrial Accident Compensation Support Team (Supporters)」, which is composed of industrial accident experts for the support system guide, customized consultation on returning to employment, etc.
KRW 4.8 billion of the 「Return to Work Grants」 has been paid out to employers, who have taken 1,500 workers back to their workplaces in 2019. The number of consultations provided by the 「Industrial Accident Compensation Support Team (Supporters)」 to businesses was 7,364.

「Return to Work Grants」 can be applied by visiting the Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service (☏1588-0075), post or on the website, ‘The Online Total Service (http://total.kcomwel.or.kr)’.

From this year, Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service will expand the workplaces covered by the replacement workforce grants, which is provided to workplaces employing replacement workers during the period of accident leave of injured workers from less than 20 employees to less than 50 employees.

The system of grants to compensate the replacement (substitution) of those who are on (occupational/industrial) accident leave supports 50% (Max. KRW 600,000 per month) of wages for replacement (substitution) for up to six months when the replacement worker employed during the period of accident leave and the worker who was on accident leave and returned to work retained their employment for 30 days or more.

KRW 2.7 billion has been paid out as grants to compensate the replacement (substitution) of those who are on (occupational/industrial) accident leave in 2019. The employment retention rate of those who are on (occupational/industrial) accident leave was 76%. 52% of newly employed replacement workers have continued their employment there. As for the results, reducing the labor cost burden of employers, stable return to work, and creation of new jobs have been achieved.

From this year, the eligibility will be extended to small businesses less than 50 employees, which account for more than 70% of workplaces with industrial accidents. It is expected to play a major role in reducing the burden on labor costs of employers and reducing the labor costs of industrial workers as well as for those who are on (occupational/industrial) accident leave and work for small scale businesses to return to their work.
