The Gyeonggi Local Government organized a team dedicated to responding to
Abe’s trade retaliation as a first step in the preparation of practical measures.
The TF team’s first meeting of 20 interested persons including Lee Whasoon,
vice-mayor of administration Ⅱ, of Gyeonggi Local Government, local government
agencies, professional organizations, and companies was held, on July, 11, to respond
to Japan’s export regulation of semiconductor and display materials at the Foreign
Investment Consultation Office of the local government building.
The results of TF team’s first meeting are as follows-the Gyeonggi Local government
oversees the management and countermeasures of TF team and establishes a
cooperative system with the central government, GBSA(Gyeonggi Business Science
Accelerator) operates the Export Regulation Damage Report Center and surveys damage
situation due to the export regulation, GRI(Gyeonggi Research Institute) analyzes the
trends of Japan’s semiconductor export regulation, GCGF(Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee
Foundation) is in charge of emergency management funding and moratorium on
loan repayment, GTP(Gyeonggi Techno Park) locates and supports the companies
localizing parts, and GUIC(Gyeonggi Urban Innovation Corporation) is in charge of
a site support for the foreign-invested companies when they move in.
The TF team plans to hold regular monthly meetings and implement concrete
mid-and long-term measures by establishing an organic cooperation system such as
holding meetings at any time whenever a matter arises.
The technology industry cooperation networking between companies in Shenzhen,
Hongkong and businesses in Gyeonggi-province.
As Hongkong-Shenzhen technology delegation made up of more than 30 innovation
companies visited the Gyeonggi-province, the networking between the delegation and
domestic businesses was promoted and the business consultation workshop held.
This day, the delegation, consisting of senior vice-president of Hongkong Trade Development Bureau, president of Hongkong Science Park, the Hongkong-Shenzhen
government concerned, and 40 businessmen, economy director of Gyeonggi Local
Government and about 20 interested entrepreneurs of Gyeonggi-province in
cooperation with the Great China Region such as MPS Korea(unmanned electric cart)
participated in the business consultation workshop.
Through this workshop in which the high-tech industrial complexes in Gyeonggi-
province were introduced, the opportunity to expand the business exchanges(industry,
technical cooperation, trade, investment, and etc.) was made between the innovation
companies(IT, AT, autonomous driving, and etc.) in Shenzhen, Hongkong and
businesses in Gyeonggi-province.
The Gyeonggi Investment Promotion Working Group was dispatched to Europe.
The Gyeonggi Investment Promotion Working Group visited the high-tech
businesses located in Germany and Finland such as semiconductor field, and
engaged in investment attraction activities for 5 days from July, 21, 2019.
The Gyeonggi Working Group introduced the excellent investment environment of
Gyeonggi-province for the high-tech industries, main ones, to 5 advanced companies
such as Infineon Technologies, Wacker Chemical, and Tech Five Corporation in
Germany, and Nokia and Plan Meca in Finland, and discussed the specific investment
plan henceforth.
The Gyeonggi Local Government will continue to implement specialized follow-up
measures by company such as finding and connecting collaborative companies in
Gyeonggi-province, based on the discussions made through the activities of this
Working Group.
